Jay Herrick at his board. He does use a computer, but
not for designing buildings. Our computer-rendered
drawing sets are wonderful, but you can't beat the
beauty of Jay's artistic hand.

Our Staff

Joseph Tanguay – Architectural Designer

Joe has been with the firm since 2001. He came to us with 15 years’ experience drafting, 9 of those using computer-assisted technology. In addition to his superb skills using Architectural Desktop © (computer assisted design software), he coordinates all computer technology functions. Joe’s ability to make an as-yet unbuilt project come to life in three dimensional color is amazing.

Joe holds a 2 year Certificate in Mechanical and Architectural Drafting from Westbrook Regional Vocational Center, 1987.

Debora Houdek - Architectural Designer

Debora joined the practice in 2005 when our growth determined the need to add another Architectural Desktop © station. We are very fortunate to benefit from her 14 years of broad experience with large projects.

Her education includes a BA in Architecture, 1988 and a Bachelor of Architecture, 1990

Elizabeth Skaling – Architectural Technician

Beth has been with us since 1999. Her skills are diverse and invaluable. Architect. She maintains our library: 49 lineal feet of building product literature, samples, and references. She also provides a lot of the ‘glue’ that holds an office firmly together.

Anne Herrick – Business Manager

Anne took up this position officially in 2005. Being Jay’s wife, she has given intermittent assistance from the sidelines for years. She now uses her business acumen gained as a nursing home administrator to coordinate the functions of James Herrick Architect, LLC.

James Herrick AIA – Architect

Jay began his independent practice of architecture in 1991 after six years of work for other Architectural firms. His education includes a BA in Architecture in 1983 Cum Laude from the University of Texas in Arlington and an MA in Architecture
in 1986 from the University of Oregon in Eugene. He actually liked calculus and differential equations. Jay passed all sections of the grueling licensing exam for Architects in 1989.

Of note, Jay earned a living as a very skilled carpenter and builder before he decided to re-enter university life… he was one of those ‘mature’ students,
27 years of age.
